When do classes start?

Classes start Monday, August 7th, 2023. Registration for the 2024-2025 season will begin in May of 2024.

What age can dancers start classes?

We take dancers starting at 18 months and up.

What is the dress code?

Dancers should always have appropriate dance attire to participate in class. This includes dance dresses, leotards with dance skirts or dance shorts, fitted tank tops and leggings or dance shorts. Pink or tan tights must be worn with all leotards and dance shorts. Acro classes must wear a leotard with dance shorts and convertible tights. Hair should be in a ponytail or bun for all classes.

What shoes do I need?

• Combo classes need pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes, preferably with a velcro closure. Jazz and Pom classes will need tan jazz shoes.
• Tap 1 and 2 will need a tap boot. Tap 3 and 4 will need lace up tap shoes. Hip Hop will need black dance sneakers.
• Lyrical will need half sole lyrical shield. Acro will need to be barefoot.
  
  

Where should I purchase shoes?

Studio 16 will offer multiple shoe fitting dates where dancers can be fitted for their shoes and/or dancewear. Shoes and dancewear can be ordered through Studio 16. Shoe and dancewear fittings is a service that we offer to our dancers. It is not required for you to purchase shoes at Studio 16.

Do you have a recital? How many costumes will I purchase?

Recitals are typically towards the end of May. You will receive an email as soon as the recital date is set. All classes participate in the recital, except for our Stretch and Technique classes. You will need to purchase a costume for each class that your child takes. Combo ballet/tap or ballet/jazz classes will have two costumes. You may begin making partial payments on costumes as early as September.

Can parents watch classes?

To reduce distractions and to protect dancers’ privacy, parents are not allowed to watch classes. We typically have several days throughout the year that we invite parents to watch class.

What is your method of communication?

We have several forms of communication. Emails and announcements in your online parent portal will be the main method of communications. You can also like and visit our Facebook page, Instagram, and join our Remind text group for announcements.
